How YouTubers Actually Get Paid

Creator income has two main engines, and most calculators only show the smaller one. Ads pay per view at your niche's RPM. Sponsorships pay per deal, priced against the same views at 3 to 8 times the rate. They stack on the same video.

Both columns are per 1,000 long-form views. RPM is what YouTube pays you after its share; CPM is what a brand pays for an integration. Benchmarks reviewed against 2025–2026 creator-reported figures.

Why This Calculator Asks for Views, Not Subscribers

Nobody pays for subscribers. AdSense pays for monetized views, and brands price sponsorships against your average views per video. A 500K-subscriber channel getting 20,000 views per upload earns less than a 80K-subscriber channel getting 60,000. If a calculator asks for your subscriber count, it is guessing. For the version of this that reads your real upload history, use the sponsorship rate calculator.

YouTube Earnings FAQ

How much money do YouTubers make per 1,000 views?

From ads, most YouTubers earn between $1 and $35 per 1,000 long-form views depending on the niche. Finance channels sit at the top ($12 to $35 RPM), while gaming, entertainment, and music sit at the bottom ($1 to $5). Sponsorships pay separately and typically run 3 to 8 times more per view than ads.

How much does a YouTuber with 100K subscribers make?

Subscribers do not earn money, views do. A 100K-subscriber channel averaging 30,000 views per video and uploading weekly might earn $240 to $2,100 per month from ads depending on niche, plus $480 to $2,400 for each sponsored video. Two channels with identical subscriber counts can earn wildly different amounts.

Do YouTubers get paid monthly?

AdSense pays monthly, around the 21st, once earnings pass the $100 threshold. Sponsorships pay per deal on whatever terms the creator negotiates, commonly net-30 after the video goes live.

How many views do you need to make $1,000 per month on YouTube?

From ads alone: roughly 30,000 monthly views in a high-RPM niche like finance, or 200,000 or more monthly views in gaming or entertainment. With sponsorships the bar drops a lot: a channel averaging 15,000 views per video can clear $1,000 with two sponsored videos a month in most niches.

Is AdSense or sponsorship money bigger for creators?

For most channels that take sponsorships seriously, sponsorship income is larger. Brands pay $10 to $100 per 1,000 views for an integration while AdSense pays $1 to $35, and the two stack on the same video. The catch is that sponsorships require finding brands with budget for your niche, which is what SponsorRadar tracks.
